SPM Instrument announces updated version of Airius for wireless vibration monitoring in marine and offshore

Now updated to include a number of enhancements in design and performance, the Airius wireless vibration sensors are areliable and high-quality solution with a very competitive lifecycle cost. True to SPM quality and forward-thinking, Airius offers optimal vibration monitoring efficiency with low environmental impact.

The Airius sensors enable automated vibration monitoring that is significantly more efficient than manual, route-based measurement, without incurring high costs for cabling or gateways. By measuring temperature and triaxial vibration using enveloping techniques, the sensors support early detection of bearing and gear faults while reducing manual work and contributing to a safer working environment.

Designed as an accessible starting point for condition monitoring, Airius is fully integrated into the SPM ecosystem, sharing the same software and database environment. This makes it easy to expand the scope of condition-based maintenance over time. Simple installation and configuration procedures support hassle-free deployment and a quick return on investment.

From a lifecycle cost perspective, Airius delivers strong overall value. The robust sensor design allows batteries to be replaced on site rather than replacing the sensor itself and is also available with an external power supply. Security is built in by design, and users remain in control of their data whether it is stored locally or in the cloud.

The Airius II update is available in two measuring ranges, 10–1000 Hz and 2–5000 Hz. The 10–1000 Hz version offers significantly improved measurement performance and higher resolution, while the 2–5000 Hz version provides high resolution together with an extended measurement range. The update also introduces enhanced algorithms for improved energy efficiency, support for continuously connected external power enabling triggered measurement, a more robust push-button design, and streamlined sensor configuration and management in the SPM Connect app and Condmaster Ruby software. Measurement data can be transferred via REST API and OPC UA, supporting IIoT system integration in smart factories.

Additional functionality includes the ability to assign RPM values using global parameters and to connect process parameters. Rated IP69, the Airius sensor is designed for demanding industrial environments, indoors or outdoors, including remote, inaccessible, or hazardous locations, without the need for additional enclosures.

The updated Airius sensors will be available for delivery from May 2022.
